AbstractThis article argues that leadership and conflict resolution coursework are integrally related, and should both be part of the liberal arts program. Specifically, this article has four objectives: to state the purposes of liberal arts education; to describe the aims of leadership education; to connect leadership studies to the liberal arts curriculum through conflict resolution education; and, to provide introductory pedagogical information on conflict resolution education. Finally, the article will describe the approach taken by the North Central College Leadership, Ethics and Values Program and Dispute Resolution Center to teach leadership by teaching conflict resolution.
